The short version of events is that I left home, flew to Korea, had orientation, which kept us rather busy, but left enough time to get to adjusted to Korean culture e.g. getting acquainted with the soju, and so forth. We did a mock presentation and in my group my peers voted it the best so I won a phone card.
Today was a long bus trip and then we got split up. I received an early tip from an internet stranger and usually that phrasing isn't a good thing and in this case it was correct and I am in what was referred to as 'one of the most isolated places in mainland Korea'. I felt sick at the time of hearing those words when it was confirmed I was going there, but I have my own place, this country is quicker to get around in and it has paved roads, quick broadband and apparently there's a tight group of expats. I also have three schools, which means an extra $150 a month and I think I get the you're stuck in the sticks bonus too.
I start Monday, so tomorrow will be unpacking and getting supplies, but to be honest this place has been kitted out by the last guy pretty well, I even have a grown up dust buster; I'll put a pic of it up when I take photos of the room sans luggage. Another perk about sliding right in is that even the internet goes still and that only costs $30 a month. When I give these figures I'm just trimming several 0's off 1000 = ~$1 in my mind.
I'll explore tomorrow. On a sad, unrelated note I broke the zipper on my jeans as my underwear got caught. I guess I should be grateful it was just my underwear caught in that thing.
