Oops I did it again

Last year was an amazing year. It kicked off with a mid semester road trip and ended up with a semester in Penn State. While this year won't quite have the same enchantment it should (knock on wood) see me graduate and perhaps see me get the big tick off my New Zealand wish list. Last year I saw a few things on my road trip in the South Island that pretty much could make me rather happy, but in the event I do leave the country for a long period of time I would like to truthfully say I did see all I wanted to see.

First, but by no means foremost, I want to get the full Franz Joseph experience. That means more than walking around next to a glacier. I want the full matching blue coats and walk in a group with the guided tours. The photos I see of people doing it look surreal.

The next is the granddaddy of South Island destinations. Milford Sound. I'm not going to rant about something I've only heard about when you can do your own google search. But you can see Sandfly point on tv during the Resene ad. (NZ colours ad) It truly looks like the last frontier for me to see in the South Island. Maybe one day I'll get to Stewart Island.

The reason I chose to do this now, despite being low on funds, is the timing is right. It's my last year at university. On the off chance I get in the ranks of the employed, time will be the scarcest resource. Money on the other hand should be recouped before the start of the next semester, if I budget correctly. Really this just comes down to looking over 3 year period and seeing where it would work and now is the most likely looking scenario.

In other news I went to the zoo yesterday. Got some good photos and at at some point we're going to be hitting the wildlife sanctuary in Kaori. This also has increased my Wellington bus taking skills. Yes, I have become average in taking the bus.
