Ok, this is really dragging. It was a big trip and I saw a lot. We get the point.
Atlanta.
We arrived, feeling a lot better and at the first look I took back any doubt I had about choosing Atlanta, it looks nice. We got approached by a guy who claims to be
the 'official tour guide' for the hostel. We are skeptical but follow him, making sure he doesn't deviate off the main road or get us any where in danger. He turns out to be a homeless guy trying to earn enough to pay the $5 fee for shelter at the Salvation army. He also spits a lot. We check in, have Krispy Kremes and make our way down town. We get invited into a church and end up in sermon. They feed us for free. We leave and head to the sights of Coke world and the Aquarium, which is the worlds largest.
We were going to do neither due to price, but they manage to make a two ticket trip thing where you can see Coke World and the Aquarium. We take it as what else do you do in Atlanta and decide to do Coke world first. It was ok. Not exactly a must do. Afterwards we leave, take the long way round bypassing the Georgia-dome, CNN building and make it home. We're naffed. We eat at a nice, but insanely cheap pasta place.
The next day we get fed a muffin by the hostel, check out, by pay $1 to leave thew bags there and make tracks to the aquarium. We spend ages there, leave, hav e lunch at said pasta restaurant. We head to the airport and eventually get to Baltimore.
Baltimore.
This is brief. The bags finally arrive, we collect them, jump into Rileys car. Go to her place. Decline the offer of attending her show due to our new found abilities to nod off when sitting still. We chill for a while at her place. Play in the snow, being the first time I've seen it in an urban environment. Owen packs a hard snowball and it hits my nose/glasses. It bleeds and quickly freezes making no mess and minimal evidence. Riley comes home and we eat at the weirdest cafe ever. It had mannequins and all sorts of creepy stuff. We go home and hit the hay.
The next morning it's up and some quick video games and then we get dropped off at the Greyhound place. We then depart for Newark, Delaware.
Newark.
We get picked up by Owens sister and her husband. We get to shower and chill out for a while. We watch a terrible movie about free divers and then go to a bar. We stay there for a while as what else are we going to do in Newark on a weekend.
In passing mention of what I hoped to do in the States, I bring up that I'd love to shoot a pistol. Mike (the husband - great guy by the way) has a friend who has all sorts of shit like this. So the next day we head there. We shoot a pistol at some targets but that was loud and not what I was expecting. Maybe pistol range will be the goal. But he has a fake deer and a crossbow. Which is awesome. A very fun toy.
It turns out we're in Maryland, at this farm, we then head to get lunch, in Pennsylvania. We get Pizza Hut in Oxford, then return to Maryland and stop at this liquor store that has cheap booze. It truely is a beautiful place. I grab a bottle of something I presume is illegal in New Zealand being that it's 190 proof and we make our way back down the road to Delaware. We get bundled on the train and that takes us to Philadelphia. We bus from there to Harrisburg, get on a bus that smells like it's burning. The bus passengers panic and eventually we get back to State College.
The end.
